Civil Engineering Services
Need to know how to span a river, place a building on a side of
a mountain, or just where to place your road? Our civil engineers
work to develop the most cost effective, time efficient route to
do so. After all, who wants a road that leads to nowhere?
Land Development
DAES will help you coordinate the services of a Professional Land
Surveyor through our many contacts in the community. Once
a boundary and topographic survey have been completed, our engineers
are ready to provide civil engineering services to begin your project.
Erosion Control
Part of ensuring the natural wonders of our area stay so beautiful,
is to incorporate erosion control measures. Our engineers
are well versed in the permitting process through the Federal,
State and Local Governments. Through our erosion control
plans, you will know when, where and how to incorporate erosion
control methods.
Stormwater Management
Runoff from storm events can affect you and your neighbors adversely
and impact your property value. Potential hazards from not
having effective stormwater measures in place range from flooding
to stream channel erosion. In conjunction with erosion control
measures, DAES will incorporate a Stormwater Management Plan for
your development. These measures fall under Government Guidelines
and will protect your property, our water resources, wetlands and
the delicate ecosystem of Western North Carolina.
Water System Design
Depending on the location of your development, a water system
may need to be designed. Based on regulations provided by
the City of Asheville, or possibly the North Carolina Department
of Environment and Natural Resources, our engineers request an
allocation of water availability, design and submit the water plans
for permitting. Construction
Administration ranging from sending your plans out for bid, to
overseeing the requests for payment are all part of the services
that we offer. Periodic on-site observations of the waterline
during installation ensure that the waterline is installed properly
and in accordance with the engineer’s plans and specifications.

Sanitary Sewer System Design
Much like the water system design, our engineers work closely
with either the Metropolitan Sewerage District, or the North Carolina
Department
of Environment and Natural Resources, in the design process of
your sewer system. Allocation requests, engineering plans
and specifications and profiles are just part of the process of
installing a sanitary sewer line. As in the water system
installation, DAES is ready to assist in the Construction Administration
process.
Roadway Design
From naming your subdivision roads, to addressing your individual
lots, DAES will design a road system that takes into consideration
the natural slopes and grade changes that are a part of Western
North Carolina. Based on the County where your development
is located, we work closely with the local Engineering Department
and the North Carolina Department of Transportation to ensure that
the roadways are safe, user friendly and provide access to the
natural beauty that surrounds us daily here in the mountains.
